G
The G line began as a proposal as early as 1912 for a crosstown line. In 1923, the idea of running a train from the Queensboro bridge to Franklin Avenue was pitched but denied by the current mayor, John Harlan. In 1928, however, construction began for this crosstown line with the building of the Greenpoint Tubes to connect the two boroughs. The G’s ending terminals have changed throughout the years. It has gone from Jamaica - 179th Street to Queens Plaza, finally settling down with Court Square in Queens connecting to Church Avenue in Brooklyn.
